3 Tips to Get in Gear for Spring
The warmer weather is on its way, and with it the opportunity for outdoor activity. Are you ready to get out there? Be sure to take inventory on a few essential items.
First, make sure your sneakers are in good condition. Check the bottoms for wear and if you’ve had them for longer than six months, it’s a good sign that it’s time for a new pair. When investing in a new pair of sneakers make sure you buy a pair for the activity you will be doing. Different types of sneakers provide different types of support. Get cross-training shoes that provide lateral support for walking or strength training. Opt for running shoes that provide heel support for running. Many running stores will assist you in buying the best fitting shoe for your needs.
Next, make sure you have the essentials in clothing – a sports bra that fits you well for support, breathable clothing to wick away sweat, and an outer layer to protect you from the wind and rain. Most sporting goods stores will have all of the above. Ask a sales associate if you have questions.
And, finally, ensure you have a flash light or other reflective gear. As the days get longer, you may head out for a walk or run while it’s still light, but get caught in the dark on the way home. Wearing white is helpful for cars to see you, but even better is reflective clothing and/or a flash light. It’s best to be safe.
Now get out and enjoy yourself!
What Have You Been Tolerating?
Tolerations are tasks we put off doing, even though we know they need to get done to help our lives flow more smoothly. They can be in the form of communication we need to have in a relationship, laundry we need to do for clean shirts to wear to work, bills we need to pay, or paperwork we need to organize. They can be large or small, hard to do or easy, but the end result is the same – we need to complete them to be more productive.
Take a look at what you’ve been tolerating around your health & fitness program. Are you working out at a fitness facility that doesn’t meet your needs? Do you need to buy new sneakers? Do you need to invest in a sports bra or workout shorts that fit you better? Have you been oversleeping and skipping your workouts, and if so, what time do you need to get to bed to wake up feeling more refreshed?
Tolerations continue as long as we allow them to, zapping energy unnecessarily. What are you going to do to make some changes in your life right now so that you can reach for your health & fitness goals with more ease? The choice is yours.
